THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, August 13, page 4B: 'Charlie Battle, 93, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital. Maxey Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Rocky Ford Cemetery in Roxton with the Rev. R. L. Gray officiating. He was born Dec. 11, 1905, to Zack and Irene Battle. He was a farmer in the Roxton and Petty area. Surviving are a son, Hershel Battle of Oklahoma City; sisters, Christine Spencer of Oakland, Calif., Elee Cross of Berkley, Calif., Mable Lockhart of Dallas and Marie Fisher of Lubbock; grandchildren, Carl Ray Battle of Pampa, Wanda Ramsey of St. Louis, Mo., Morris Battle of Killeen, Larry Battle, Martha Johnson and Sharon Woods, all of Paris, and a lifelong friend, Viola Bizzell of Texarkana.'
