LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, November 17, 1983, p. 6. 'Edward Barrett, 3475 Pine Bluff, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at McCuistion Medical Center. Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov. 17, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Ethridge officiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Mr. Barrett was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Greensburg, Pa., a son of John D. Barrett and Lillie Dancer Barrett. He was graduated from Westmoreland High School in Johnstown, Pa. and was a veteran of World War II. He worked for Bethlehem Steel in the Rosedale mines and was a member of the United Mine Workers Association and was welfare secretary at Rosedale for a number of years. He later joined Morrison Knutsun Construction Co. and retired from that company in 1974. He moved to Paris from Nashville, Ark. in 1978. He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Lancaster; one son, Gene M. Barrett of South San Francisco, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Rosales of Baltimore, Md.; two grandsons and one granddaughter and one sister, Mrs. Georgia Shrader of Johnstown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.' Buried near Lloyd Collis Hayles. Tombstone is inscribed, 'CPL., US Army WWII.'
