LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, May 19, 1983, p. 4. 'Miss Martha Barnett, 3260 Hubbard, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at McCuistion Medical Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Starnes and the Rev. Dick Atkinson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Miss Barnett was born Sept. 30, 1901, in Paris, a daughter of James R. Barnett and Lucy Belle DeLozier Barnett. She attended Paris schools and Texas Women's College at Denton. She was assistant Dean of Women at Texas Women's College for 12 years before returning to Paris where she was associated with the Knight's Templar Foundation until her retirement about 10 years ago. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and its New Era Sunday School Class and of the United Methodist Women. Surviving are a nephew, Charles Joiner of Dallas, several great nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Barnett of Paris.' THE PARIS NEWS, 18 May 1983. 'Funeral services for Miss Martha Barnett, 3260 Hubbard, were held Tuesday in Fry and Gibbs Chapel with the Rev. Ray Starnes and Dick Atkinson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Miss Barnett died Sunday at McCuistion Medical Center.' Buried next to Lucy Delozier Barnett.
