THE PARIS NEWS Thu., Feb. 13, 1930. 'Mrs. E. A. BARNES DIES WEDNESDAY. Mrs. E. A. Barnes, 67 years old, died Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Emberson-Brown Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. W. M. Wright, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. The Paris Rebekah lodge #20, will have charge of the services at the grave. Mrs. Barnes, who was Miss Nellie Downs, was born in Woodville, Miss. She was married to E. A. Barnes in 1911. Mr. Barnes died only a few months ago. She was a member of Order or the Eastern Star and the Rebekahs. She was a devoted wife and a friend to all who knew her. Pall bearers will be G. B. Brown, J. N. King, L. E. Higgs, J. W. Love, C. Beaver, B. L. Jordan and members of Wildey Lodge #21, I.O.O.F.' From an unidentified note left at the Genealogical Society Library, PJC; Married first to Charles B. Hammett, second to E.A. Barnes. In 1993 this was an unmarked grave next to the unmarked grave of Charles B. Hammett.
