THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, 25 Oct 1942, p. 7: “MRS. J. A. BARNES. Mrs. Estella Jestine Barnes, wife of J. A. Barnes of 209 N. 20th St., died Saturday at 4 a. m. at her home at the age of 69. The Rev. Travis A. White of First Christian Church, assisted by Dr. A. B. White of First Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral service at Brown-Roden Funeral Chapel, Tuesday at 2 p. m., and interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. Sons-in-law and grandsons will be pallbearers. Mrs. Barnes leaves her husband and eight children, Mrs. A. B. Wortham. Mrs. G. M. Robinson, Mrs. J. W. Bramlett, Mrs. Curtis Gage and L. E. (Buddy) Barnes of Paris: Albert Barnes of Ft. Worth: Jess Barnes, in the Army Air Forces at Big Spring: and Lawrence (Jim) Barnes of Salem, Calif.: four half-brothers, Oscar. George, Butler and Luther Cockorham. all of Ft. Worth; 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.”
