THE PARIS NEWS, 1 Oct 1990: 'Carl D. Barker, 485 Laurel Lane, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glynn Vickers and the Rev. Gaither Day officiating, after a private graveside service at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Barker was born 1 Apr 1947, in Paris, the son of Dr. C.D. Barker and Virginia Hogan. He married Corrinne Dagle Peek in 1980 after attending Paris public schools and Paris Junior College. Barker was a Vietnam War veteran and also attended East Texas State University. He was employed by Gulf Oil Co. in Paris, Palestine and McKinney. He returned to Paris in 1984, and worked for Biard Oil in 1989. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Coren Barker of Paris; two sons, Jason Peek and Josh Peek of Paris; his father, Dr. Carl D. Barker; one sister, Mrs. Mart (Ginger) Bisek of Jackson, Miss.; a nephew, Casey Bisek, and a niece, Kelly Bisek, both of Jackson, Miss.'
Buried next to Virginia Georgia Hogan Barker. Tombstone is inscribed, 'SP5 US Army Vietnam.'
