THE PARIS NEWS Wed., Dec. 8, 1993, p. 12A: "Mrs. Bill (Betty) Barbee of Sterling City died Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Longview. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in the First Presbyterian Church in Sterling City with the Rev. Sheree Harris officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at noon Friday, Dec. 10, at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris with the Rev. Ray Starnes officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements. The family will receive friends at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Barbee was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Miles and was a graduate of Sterling City High School. She was a graduate of Texas Tech and Southern Methodist University and was an elementary school teacher in Richardson and Midland. She was a member and an elder in the Presbyterian Church and was associate worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sterling Lodge No. 29. Surviving are her husband; one son, B. Hull Barbee of Kilgore; her mother, Johnnie Donaldson of Sterling City; and two granddaughters, Allison Barbee and Kristen Barbee, both of Kilgore. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Children’s Home and Service Agency, P.O. Box 550, Austin, TX 78767-9944."
