THE PARIS NEWS, Tue., Feb. 15, 1994, p. 10A: 'Deport - Flossie Marie Ballard, 80, of Deport died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1994, in St. Joseph's Hospital & Health Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Abundant Life Tabernacle in Minter with the Rev. Tony Corso and the Rev. Glynn Renfro officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery by Wood Funeral Home of Deport. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ballard was born Nov. 23, 1913, in the Marvin Community, a daughter of Fate Lafayette and Effie May Turner Upchurch. She married L.C. (Shorty) Ballard Jan. 28, 1933. She was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle Church. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Joe Ballard of Deport and Jack Ballard of Texarkana; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Bayless and Paralee Short of Amarillo; and two brothers, Curt Upchurch and Kenneth Upchurch, both of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Loyd Wayne Ballard.' This is also entered under surname Upchurch.
