LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, March 15, 1984, p. 4: "Alvin O. Ballard, Rt. 1, Pattonville, died Sunday, March 11, at McCuistion Medical Center. Services were held Tuesday, March 13, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Hoover and the Rev. L. C. Stout officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mr. Ballard was born June 7, 1907, in Lamar County, a son of Rupert L. and Clara Elizabeth Walker Ballard. He married Ivie Virgie Bennett on Dec. 24, 1927, in Paris. He was a carpenter and had been a member of the Bethel Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Edwin Dawson Ballard of Powderly, Delbert Lawson Ballard of Quitman, Tony Dale Ballard of Alva, Okla. and Alvin Michael Ballard of Gladewater; three brothers, Leonard Ballard of Deport, Roland Ballard of Clardy and Dennis Ballard of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Peggy Rainey of Arlington; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Ballard of Dallas and a brother and sister died in infancy.’ THE PARIS NEWS, March 12, 1984: “Alvin O.
