Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, 1 Jan 1962: 'Mrs. Harry L. Baker, Sr., 1219 Lamar Ave., the former Miss Mary Manton, died Monday at 1 p.m. at the Sanitarium of Paris, where she had been a patient a few days. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, by the pastor, the Rev. Melville Nesbit, Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home to make burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that friends make memorial gifts of their choice. Daughter of the late Rev. Charles A. and Mary (Arnold) Manton, Mrs. Baker was born in Paris, 1 Feb 1883, her father having been longtime pastor of old Cumberland Presbyterian Church, forerunner of Central Church, and an outstanding figure in the life of the city for many years. Mrs. Baker has been teacher of the Mary Baker Sunday School Class of the church for almost 50 years, and aside from this and her other church activities, she was a member of the Lotus Club, oldest federated women's unit in Paris. She was married here 8 Nov 1904, to Mr. Baker, a banker and civic leader, who died about 10 years ago. Mrs. Baker leaves two sons, Harry L. Baker, Jr., Dallas, and Charles Porter Baker, Short Hills, N.J.; five grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Henry Manton and Mrs. John Sparger, Dallas, and Mrs. Helen Patterson, Houston.' On the same stone with Harry LeRoi Baker, Sr.
