THE PARIS NEWS, Tue., Aug. 27, 1996, p.8A: 'Claire B. Turman Bailey, formerly of Honey Grove, went home to be with the Lord 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at Heritage Care Center. We praise God for His mercy and grace. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bailey was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Howland, a daughter of Richard 'Dick' and Zora Nicholson Turman. She was a graduate of Paris High School and attended El Paso College of Mines, East Texas University and Texas Woman's University. She dedicated her life to the education of small children in Minter, Mundy, Goodrich, Jefferson and Edinburg school systems for 35 years, retiring May 31, 1975. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Edinburgh. She was married to Maurice William Bailey on May 26, 1937, in Sulphur Springs by the Rev. C. E. Chambers. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1993. Surviving are one aunt, Nadine Nicholson of Paris, and a number of cousins.'
