THE PARIS NEWS, Tue., May 19, 1998, p. 4B: 'Deport - Linnie Edith Bailey, 87, of Deport died Monday, May 18, 1998, in Deport Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at First Baptist Church of Deport with the Rev. Freddy Burden officiating. Wood Funeral Home will make burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born Nov. 27, 1910, in Bradley, AR, to Crowell and Irene Curtis Newsome. She married Marshall Boyd Bailey Jan. 7, 1928, in Paris. He died Aug. 8, 1987. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert Edward Bailey in 1964 and Marshal Boyd Bailey Jr. in 1994; a granddaughter, Kelley Kay Bailey Ray in 1981; three brothers, Cleveland C. Newsome, Clyde Seth Newsome, and J. B. Newsome; and two sisters, Willie Lou Sparkman and Minnie Lee Landers. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Debra Bailey of Reno; a daughter-in-law, Bobbye Bailey of Deport; three sisters, Mary Alice Bumgarner of Deport, Jessie Mae Newsome of Paris and Ruby Dee Blevins of Pattonville; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Martha Sunday School Class will be honorary bearers.'
