Information from Jean Caddel, Waxahachie, TX, 19 Sep 1995: married Sarah Margaret McAmis on 1 Feb 1871. They had one child, Eula Lee who married Daniel W. Baughman.
Information from Betsy Mills: Francis Marion and Sarah Margaret McAmis Billingsley actually had six children: Ida May Billingsley Crenshaw, Minnie Washtelle Billingsley Bramlett, Hester Ann Billingsley Frazier, Eula Lee Billingsley, Baughman, John Robert Billingsley (married Annie Barnes), and William Benjamin Franklin Billingsley (married Della Camster).
Sarah Billingsley applied for but was rejected a pension from the State of Texas for service in the Confederate Army of Francis Marion Billingsley.
Mary Duke, a granddaughter had a tombstone placed in Lee Roxton Cemetery. She maintains that Marion was never moved to Roxton’s Restland Cemetery and the body remains in Lee Cemetery. This record is duplicated in both cemeteries.
Information from THE BILLINGSLEY FAMILY IN AMERICA, by Harry Alexander Davis, published in Washington, D.C., 1936, p. 681: ‘Francis Marion Billingsley - Born Cumberland County, Kentucky 14 April 1839, moved to Monroe County, Kentucky with his parents [Reuben Milsap Billingsley and Mary Buckner]. He migrated to Texas about 1860 and elisted 23 Jan. 1862 Pvt. E, 17th Tex. Cav. (Consolidated) C. S. A., at Dallas, Texas; Regt. dismounted 15 Aug. 1862; July 1863 he was a Teamster in Quartermeaster Departement; March 1865 shows same; no further military record. He married at Paris, Texas, 10 September 1870 [incorrect date] Sarah Margaret McAnnis, born Roxton, Texas 22 May 1852. He was a farmer and died 25 September 1882, she survives him and resides in Roxton, Texas. Family members of Christian church. Children: Ida May, Minnie, Hester Ann, Eula Lee, John R. [who furnished the information on this family], and William Benjamin Franklin."
