THE PARIS NEWS, Mon., Mar. 2, 1998, p. 4B: 'Ethel Louise Battle, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. A. R. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Garden Cemetery by Maxey Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Lamar County to Dave and Ora Graves Brooks. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth director and Zion District secretary at Solid Rock Baptist Church. She had been employed by the LeDere family. Surviving are a sister, Thelma Day of Brookston; a niece, Lolecia Webb of Paris; nephews, William Day of San Antonio and Earl Smith of Little Rock, AR; a great-niece; a great-nephew; and cousins Lillian Marks and Clovis Graves of Paris.'
