Lamar County Death Record Book #2, p. 24, #5: L. S. Buzbee, Male White Married, age 70 years. Farmer. Father: Stephen Buzbee, born S.C. Informant: Dr. R. R. Davies, Petty, Texas. Died Jan. 6, 1914. Insufficiency of Heart. Died at Petty. Buried Hickory Grove by Wes Reed. Buried next to Martha Elizabeth Buzbee.

Levi Simuel Buzbee received a Texas Confederate Pension #19082 for his service in the Confederate Army. An abstract of the pension shows: applied 22 Jul 1910, approved 1 Jun 1910, lived in Petty, his unit was disbanded on or about 26 Apr 1865 at Marshall, TX, at application he was age 67, born in SC, lived in Petty, TX for 33 years, farmer, enlisted Fall 1862 in Co. D, Hawthorne's AR Infantry Regiment. L. W. Ross and R. O. Bradshaw, Lamar Co., 22 Jul 1910 deposed they knew him. War Dept. reply, 31 Aug 1910: private and musician in Co. D, Cocke's (formerly Hawthorn's) AR Infantry, enlisted 17 Jun 1862, last roll of Jan - Feb 1864 he is present. D. J. Pruden, 66, Alexander, Pulaski Co., AR, 3 Aug 1910, deposed Buzbee enlisted in Co. D, 6th AR Infantry, Trans-Mississippi, and served to close of war. Monroe Dickson, 75, 4 Jan, 1910, Big Rock, Pulaski Co., AR, deposed Buzbee was enlisted in Co. D, 6th AR Infantry in Jun 1862, near Benton, AR, and that he was in the same unit. His wife's pension number is #27035.
