THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Dec. 26, 1997, p. 4B: "{Picture) Detroit - Leisa Jane Brown, 45, Rt. 2, Detroit, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1997, at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas. A memorial service will be at 1 a.m. Saturday in the gymnasium of Detroit High School with the Rev. Pat Sherman and the Rev. Willie Johnson officiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born Jan. 18, 1952, in Deport to Dan and Modie Pratt Johnson. She attended schools in Detroit and earned B.A. and M.Ed. degrees from East Texas State University. She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church. She had served as a board member for Child Protective Services of Red River County. She married Hugh C. Brown Aug. 2, 1971, in Detroit. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Joel Brown of Powderly and Jeff Brown of Detroit; a daughter, Leigh Napier of Garland; a granddaughter, Andreanna Elizabeth Ruth Brown of San Angelo; her mother, Modie Johnson of Detroit; a brother, John Mack Johnson of Detroit; two sisters, Phyllis Bryan of Hawkins and Kay Whitley of Blossom; her mother-in-law, Madell Fogleman of Detroit; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Johnson, in 1994. Memorial contributions may be made to Child Protective Services of Red River County, c/o Patsy Dial, Texas Department of Human Resources, Clarksville, Texas, or the Leisa Brown Scholarship Fund, Detroit Independent School District, c/o Marilyn Gatlin, Rt. I, Box 370, Detroit, Texas 75436."
