THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, January 8, 1967: 'William E. Basham, 54, of Mesquite, a former resident of Paris and of Hugo, Okla., died of illness Friday in the veterans hospital at Dallas. The funeral in Paris will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in First United Pentecostal Church, and burial in Hopewell cemetery, northwest of here, directed by Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo. Born July 21, 1911, in Texas, Mr. Basham was a World War II veteran. He had lived at Mesquite about five years. Surviving are four children; Mrs. Pearl Bivens, Mesquite; Mrs. Carolyn Tyner and Charles Basham, Garland, and William Basham, Franklin, La.; also four grandchildren, and two brothers; Lewis Basham, Hugo, and Coy Basham, Elton, La.' Tombstone is inscribed, 'S2, USNR WW II.' Buried between Sam M. Bivens and Leon L. Dauman.
