LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, Thu., Oct. 4, 1979, p. 8: "Mr. Leslie Boren, 77, of Route 1, Blossom. died Saturday, September 29, 1979, in a Paris hospital. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Fry and Gibbs chapel with the Rev. Tom Ingram officiating. Interment was made in Red Oak Cemetery. Mr. Boren was born in Blossom on April 17, 1902, son of John B. and Sarah Ross Boren. He attended the Red Oak School, and was married to Alma Jewel Owen on August 8, 1959 [sic]. Her death occurred on October 30, 1977. He was a farmer, and a member of the Methodist Church of Blossom. Survivors include three brothers, Jim Boren of Petty, Charley Boren of Blossom and Bob Boren of Andrews; three sisters, Mrs. Maudie Baxter of Deport, Mrs. Claudia Miears of Blossom and Mrs. Jessie Gill of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bobby Nelson, Bobby Deweese, Lawrence Miears, Marcus Miears, Ed Westbrook and Carl Boren."

THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, September 30, 1979: "Mr. Leslie Boren of Route 1,Blossom, passed at 1:10 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's hospital.  Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the Fry-Gibbs Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Ingram, East Post Oak Baptist Church officiating.  Internment will be in Red Oak Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home and Charley Boren residence near Blossom.  Mr. Boren was born April 17, 1902 in Blossom to John B. and Sarah Ross Boren.  He attended Red Oak Schools.  On Aug. 8, 1959 [sic], he married Alma Jewel Owen.  She died on Oct. 30, 1977.  Mr. Boren was a farmer and a member of the Methodist Church of Blossom.  He is survived by three brothers; Jim Boren of Petty, Charley Boren of Blossom and Bob Boren of Andrews, Texas; three sisters; Mrs. Maudie Baxter of Deport, Mrs. Claudia Miears of Blossom and Mrs. Jessie Gill of Amarillo and numerous nieces and nephews."
