THE PARIS NEWS, Thu., Sep. 11, 1997, p. 1A: 'Tree Trimmer Dies In Fall - A tree trimmer fell from a bucket truck Wednesday and died later from injuries. Ricardo Urbina, 48, was pulling limbs from a dead tree at 2:30 p.m. at a residence in the 900 block of 3rd SE, according to witness statements in a Paris police report. Witnesses told police Urbina was 50 feet up in the bucket extension when a cable broke and the bucket slammed down, ejecting Urbina. He reportedly fell head first and landed on the tool box of the truck below. Paramedics arrived and conducted CPR and attempted other treatments. Urbina was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center where he died a short time later.' THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Sep. 12, 1997, p. 4B: '(Picture) Ricardo V. Urbina, 48, Paris, died Wednesday, Sep. 10, 1997. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sep. 13, in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Anthony Alphonse as celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A prayer service and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. He was born Jan. 14, 1949, in Palmito Durango, Mexico, to Apolonio and Petra Villarreal Urbina. He worked in tree service and worked at Pemex for 18 years, was a bodyguard for influential people, and also worked with the state police in Mexico. He was a member of the Reno Volunteer Fire Department and his number 327 will be retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. He married Susan DeJesus May 18, 1978 in Edinburgh. Surviving are his wife; three children, Erica Remy, Jose Urbina and Elva Urbina, all of Paris; and these brothers and sisters, Rosa Contrerras, Maria Ingram, Apolonia Urbina Jr., Blas Urbina, Rufino Urbina, Francisca Urbina and Candido Urbina. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carmela Michel, and a niece, Milagros Graciela Peralta. Pallbearers will be Chuck Roland, Don Kosterman, Ben Coker, Larry Morrell, Isabel Raissez and Benton Rainey. Honorary bearers will be members of Reno Volunteer Fire Department. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or Alcoholics Anonymous.'
