THE PARIS NEWS, 11 Jun 1954, p. 2: “Brothers Service - The funeral of Mrs. J. B. Brothers, former Powderly resident, who died Thursday morning in Dallas, will be held here Saturday at 10 a.m., in Gene Roden & Sons chapel. The Rev. R. J. Simpson, Baptist minister in Dallas, will officiate, and interment will be made in Red Hill Cemetery near Powderly. Mrs. Brothers died in Parkland Hospital in Dallas after being ill some time. She made her home in Dallas with her daughter, Mrs. Ward Pennington, 2520 Ferris. The former Miss Addie Morgan, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Morgan, was born in Mississippi, June 2, 1888. Her husband died 16 years ago. Surviving are these sons by former marriages: Walter Coy Price, Clayton, Okla., and J. T. Singleton, Dallas, besides Marshall Brothers, Midland, and Mrs. Pennington; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and these step-children: Roy Brothers and Mrs. Bennie Jackson, Paris, and Mrs. Helen Embry, Dallas.”
Information from Ron Brothers, Paris, TX, 75460: Born in Ripply, MS, and believed to be descended from the Choctaw Indians. Her first husband was Walter Preston Price, son of J. T. and Mary Ellen Price. She had two children by her first marriage, Walter Coy and Ollie B. Price. She married James Bennett Brothers, son of Thomas and Martha Thomas Brothers of Rutherford Co., TN., on 9 Dec 1916 in Lamar County. They had one son, Marshall Harold, who is buried in Red Hill Cemetery. She died in Dallas at the home of her daughter Ollie, from cancer."
