THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, January 20, 1941, p. 2: “JOE UTZ DEPORT (Special) — Death of Joe Utz, 40-year-old farmer of Chappell Hill community, west of Deport, occurred Sunday afternoon at his home where he had been ill with pneumonia about a week. Funeral arrangements, under direction of J. M. Grant here, were incomplete Monday, pending word from a brother. Mr. Utz, who had lived near here a number of years, leaves his wife and two children.”
