THE PARIS NEWS, 12 Jul 1951, Thursday, p. 11: “Mrs. J. C. Turner - Funeral services for Mrs. J. C. Turner will he held Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Red Hill Church. She died at 9:30 p. m. Wednesday at her home, Rt. 1, Powderly. The Rev. Hub Norris of Blossom will conduct the services and Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will make interment at Red Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Turner, the former Miss Nancy T. Smith, was born Feb. 7, 1870 at Edgar Springs, Mo., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed William Smith. She was married Oct. 6, 1889, near Powderly, to Mr. Turner, who survives. They have lived in the Powderly community since their marriage. Survivors besides her husband are five daughters, Mrs. Mattie McEntire, Mrs. Stella Trafton and Mrs. Minnie Roberts, all of Paris; Mrs. L. C. Binnion, Odessa; Mrs. C. H. Ramsey, Powderly; three sons, W. J., L. H., and L. E. Turner, all of Rt. 1, Powderly; one brother. E. L. Smith, Powderly; two sisters, Mrs. Pruda Ausmus and Mrs. Martha Bunch, both of Paris; 25 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.”
