THE PARIS NEWS, 11 Dec 1958: "Miss Effie L. Turner, 624 Lamar Ave., former longtime office assistant to the late Dr. J.D. McMillan, died Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital after illness. The funeral was set Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Fry and Gibbs chapel conducted by Elmer L'Roy, Church of Christ minister. Burial was to be made in Evergreen Cemetery. Born at Mount Vernon, 18 Feb 1877, Miss Turner was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.S. Turner. These nieces and nephews survive: Mrs. Alva Winters and Herbert A. Turner, Paris; Mrs. Paul C. Jordan, Natick, Mass.; Charles Turner, Shreveport, La, and Glenn A. Turner, Houston."
