Notes

From the records of John Clawson; 'Tudor Family' is only name on a plot map without a headstone marking the graves.

The following is a news article about the son of Luke Tudor. From Lamar County Marriage Record Book 9 p. 233 the names referred to in the following are Newtin H. Tudor and Mary L. Ingram.

THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Friday, Oct. 14, 1910: 'Information was received in Paris yesterday of the death of N. H. Tudor a former well known resident of this city, at Amarillo. THE NEWS, a few days ago chronicled his serious illness. Early yesterday morning a message was received stating that he was rapidly growing worse and was unconscious, and later in the day a second message came announcing his death at 7:45 o'clock in the morning. The deceased was born and reared in Paris, his father, Luke Tudor, having come to this county in 1837. He located a headright certificate northeast of town and the Tudor survey is often mentioned in deeds. Tudor Grove and Tudor street were named for him. The deceased was a deputy sheriff under Jno. A. Gose and was well known and very popular here. He moved to Western Texas about eighteen years ago and was treasurer and collector of Potter county at the time of his death. He married a Miss Ingram [Mary L. Ingram 8 Aug 1883] before moving to the west and is survived by his wife and a number of children. He was a brother of I. D. Tudor of Atlas and of Mrs. John Gabbert of this city. His parents are buried at the Odd Fellows' Cemetery here, but he will probably be buried at Amarillo.'
