THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Wednesday, June 7, 1916, p. 1: “OLD HEN FINALLY FINDS WAY BACK TO ROOST. Iris Tubb, the son of Buck Tubb, who lives near Minter, drove to that town in a buggy about a week ago. Before leaving home a hen had flown up under the seat to lay and he was unaware of her being there. She remained under the seat until he reached town. While he was away from the buggy some boys playing around it disturbed the hen and she flew out and ran away. For two or three night following the hen roosted on a woodpile near the place where the buggy had stood and during the day she would fly up into every buggy that came to town and look around in it and then fly down. Finally Iris Tubb drove to Minter again on some errand and while he was away the hen flew up in the buggy and after looking around became satisfied and settled down under the seat. She was not disturbed and remained snugly under the seat until she got back home.”
