| Notes Information from Melissa Wisely, mwisely731@gmail.com, 04/01/2014: Per Jim Townsend, Oscar Lycurgas Townsend died in Sea Drift, Calhoun County, Texas. The story was told that the railroads washed out from floods and Oscar was buried in Sea Drift, with his body to be moved at a later date. There is a marker there in Seadrift Cemetery, Seadrift, Calhoun County, Texas. Oscar's wife, Sally Jane, has a marker in Forest Chapel Cemetery, but I haven't found whether Oscar's remains were moved or not. I do not believe Oscar was ever moved as to the story's intentions. Information I have received from relatives states he is in Sea Drift Cemetery. Oscar L. Townsend was listed in Forest Chapel Cemetery records with dates as shown. |
