THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, December 22, 1940, p. 15: “S. W. Tomerlin Is Called By Death; Funeral Set Sunday. Silas William Tomerlin, veteran mechanic, formerly of Blossom, died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday at the Sanitarium of Paris and funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Blossom. The Rev. L. C. Hill, the pastor, will officiate and burial will be made at the Knights of Honor Cemetery there by Brown-Roden Funeral Home of Paris. Pallbearers will be Clyde Humphrey, O. B. White, Jack Bars, Cecil Blacksmith, Travis Fodge and Reese Byron. Mr. Tomerlin leaves two daughters, Mrs. Fayette Reddell and Miss Daisy Tomerlin both of Paris, and one sister, Mrs. L. L. Lindsay of Miami, Fla. He was born at Sharon Grove, Ky., February 3 1871, and lived many years at Blossom, where he was employed formerly at the oil mill as mechanic. Recently, he had made his home here with the Reddells.”
