THE PARIS NEWS, Wed., May 14, 1997, p. 12A: 'Hazel Stamper Tomblin, 98, went to be with the Lord at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15 at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Draper officiating. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 3, 1899, in Paris to Will and Tennie Biard Stamper. She married Virgil Eugene Tomblin Nov. 30, 1919, in Paris. He preceded her in death Oct. 31, 1976. She was also preceded in death by a son, Henry Eugene Tomblin May 10, 1994. She was a member of Lakeway Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school. She was a member of the senior citizens group, Good Neighbors. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Herschel Blankenship and Faye and Wayne Caviness of Paris; five sons and their wives, Paul and Madge Tomblin, Adrian and Imogene Tomblin, Robert and Joyce Tomblin, Thomas and Rita Tomblin, and Wayne and Ann Tomblin; two grandsons, Mark Tomblin of Livingston and Jason Tomblin of Paris; eight granddaughters, Rexann Mallory of Huntsville, Marilyn Marshall, Paula Kay Martin, Paula Ann Dudzienski, Kim Walker, Amy McMillan, all of Paris, and Suzanne Smith of Powderly and Cathy Williams of Austin. She has 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Powell, Billy Porter, Hack Blankenship, Herschel Barbee, John Draper and Ollie 'Red' Bratcher. Honorary bearers will be Harry Miller and A.C. Burns.' Grave location has not been verified and is assumed to be next to spouse.
