THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Thursday, November 1, 1934, p. 3: "EL BETHEL CHILD DIES ON WEDNESDAY. Leonard Ray Thorp, nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Thorp of Brookston, Route 2, in El Bethel commumity, died at his home Wednesday night about 10 o'clock, after a week's illness. The funeral was announced for 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence, conducted by the Rev. W. H. Wright, Methodist minister of West Paris, with internment at El Bethel cemetery, the child's uncles being pallbearers. His parents, two sisters and his grandmother, Mrs. A. D. Guillot, survive."
