THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, 8 Feb 1991, p. 4: "(Picture) Arthur Kenneth Thornton, 70, of Blossom, died there Thursday, Feb. 6. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in Gene Roden's Sons funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Blackshear officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The family well receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Thornton was born June 21, 1920, in Lamar County, a son of Arthur and Lizzie Forman Thornton. He married Annie Florence Gibson of July 1, 1943, in Childress. He was a retired custodian for Hurst-Euless-Bedford schools and had served in the Air Force. Surviving are his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Carrie Thornton of Blossom and Kenneth Lee and Marilyn thornton of Decatur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Billie Ann and Gene Ussery and Fern and Dickie Russell, all of Haltom City; two brothers, Floyd Thornton of Blossom and Thomas Thornton of Hurst; five sisters, Ethall Allen, Cecil Mayo and Dorothy Bean, all of Tulsare, Calif., Jeanette Sims of Euless and Peggy Holcomb of Cell, Calif; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren."
On the same stone with Annie F. Thornton. Also has a military marker inscribed, "Cpl US Army Air Corps - World War II."
