Notes
THE OKLAHOMA NEWS, Wednesday, February 2, 1938, p. 2: “MRS. BELLE VIRGINIA THORNE TO BE BURIED IN TEXAS. Paris Tex., her home for more than 30 years, will be the resting place of Mrs. Belle Virginia Thorne, who died at her home 909 NW 24th-st, yesterday. Funeral services will be held at Paris at 10 a m tomorrow. The body was forwarded today by the Guardian Funeral Home. Mrs Thorne, 87 years old, had lived in Oklahoma City 20 years. She and her husband, the late Charles E. Thorne, came here when Mr. Thorne concluded 30 years of service as a ticket agent for the Texas & Pacific Railroad Co. at Paris, and retired. Mr. Thorne died five years ago. Though she had been partially paralyzed for 18 years, Mrs. Thorne was active, and had been able to get around, with the aid of her crutches, until she became ill four days ago. Pneumonia was blamed for her death. A daughter, Mrs. T. J. Vaughan, with whom she lived, is the only immediate survivor.”
On the same stone with Charles E. Thorne. Tombstone is inscribed with date of death, but year of birth only.
