THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 22 Oct 1981: "Wallace A. Thompson, 66, of Deport died in the Deport Nursing Home Monday, 19 Oct 1981. Funeral services were held Wednesday, 21 Oct in the Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Muston, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Grant Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born 20 May 1915 in Cookville, a son of Ansel and Altha Cook Thompson. He married Minnie Lou Henderson 1 Sep 1934 in Deport. He was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Navy in the late 1940s. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wallace Edward Thompson of Bogata and Joe L. Thompson of Pattonville; three daughters, Virginia Fay LaRue of Deport, Betty Lou Gates of Paris and Georgia Ann Allen of Lockney; one sister, Ruby Singleton of Granbury; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren."
