THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 28 Mar 1985. 'Mrs. D. C. (Mattie) Thompson, Rt.1, Powderly, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at 7:50 a.m. Monday, 25 Mar 1985. Services were held Wednesday, 27 Mar at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. A.B. White officiating. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was born 19 Apr 1908, in Lamar County, a daughter of James Deweese and Lucy Johnson Deweese. She attended Palestine school in Lamar County and married Mr. Thompson on Dec 31, 1930. He died 16 Apr 1980. She was a member of the Bounds Baptist Church and of its ladies adult Sunday school class. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Neal Conder of Powderly; three sons, Max Thompson of Duncanville, Jimmie Thompson of Powderly and Gail Thompson of Paris; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lorene Conder of Rt.1, Powderly; one brother, Roy Deweese, Rt.2, Powderly; several nieces and nephews.'
