THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, September 4, 1950, p. 8: “Landrum L. Thompson Of Direct Dies Sunday. Landrum L. Thompson, 63, of Direct, died Sunday morning at 8:30 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Hospital here. A farmer, Mr. Thompson had been ill about three weeks. The funeral Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, will be held at Chicota Presbyterian Church by the pastor, the Rev. Max Barton, assisted by the Rev. J. L. Wideman, Baptist minister. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will make burial in Chicota Presbyterian Cemetery. Mr. Thompson, born April 1, 1887, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thompson. He leaves his wife, formerly Miss Mary Etta Campbell; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Hicks, Direct, and two grandchildren; a brother, R. W. Thompson, Arp, and a sister, Mrs. B. F. Collins, Honey Grove.”
