THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, January 1, 1961, p.3: “James R. Thompson, 448-3rd SW, died at home Saturday at 5 a.m., of illness. He was formerly a laundry operator. Services are set Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Gene Roden & Sons chapel, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, the Garretts Bluff Masonic Lodge to conduct committal rites. Born in Paris, November 12, 1890, Mr. Thompson was a member of the West Paris Church of Christ. He leaves his wife, the former Miss Bessie Meacham, and these children; Jack Thompson, Arlington; Mrs. Mable Hammett and Mrs. Marie Cope, Dallas; and Mrs. Margaret Blassard, Houston, besides 11 grandchildren.”
