THE PARIS NEWS Thu., Jun. 24, 1993, p.16A. 'Dr. Dewayne Thompson, 58, Rt. 2, Paris, died Tuesday, June 22, at St. Joseph's Hospital & Health Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carter Lyles and Dr. A.B. White officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Dr. Thompson was born Jan. 10, 1935, in Reno, a son of Thomas Aubrey and Nettie Marie Whitlock Thompson. He attended Reno and Paris schools and Paris Junior College. He received a bachelor's degree from East Texas State University, a Master of Divinity from Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, FL, and a Doctor of Ministry from Southern Baptist Center for Bibical Studies in Jacksonville. He had served as pastor at Antioch Church in Delta County and had pastored at Mt. Olive Baptist Church since April, 1992. He had served churches in Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and other Texas cities. He was a member of the Blossom Kiwanis Club and served as chaplain for the Reno Volunteer Fire Department and McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Surviving are his mother who lives in Paris; a sister, Arbelia Thompson of Paris; and a niece, Stacie Gregory of Paris. Named as pallbearers are the Rev. Randall Scott, the Rev. Bill Draper, Bobby Risinger, the Rev. Bob Smith, Bill Arnold and William Lee Anderson.'
