THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, February 1, 1944, p. 5: BARNEY THOMPSON. Death of Barney Thompson of Chicota, 40 year old, occurred Monday at his home, due to a heart attack. Funeral service was arranged for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church at Chicota, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Malloy of First Presbyterian Church of Paris, Brown-Roden Funeral Home making interment in Forest Chapel Cemetery. Loy Campbell, R. C. Oringderff, Don Lockey, Joe Armstrong, Mark Falls and Jack Glass were name pallbearers. Sone of the late H. B. (Brack) Thompson and Mrs. Thompson of Chicota, he was born there Feb. 29, 1904, and had lived in that community practically all his life, engaging in farming. Besides his mother, survivors are his wife, the former Miss Bessie Moores; three daughters, Etheilene Thompson of Chicota; Maud Elizabeth and Patsy Sue Thompson of Benicia, Calif.; and these sisters and brothers: Mrs. Jimmie Whitesides and Joe Thompson of Chicota; Mrs. James B. Northcutt, Richmond, Calif.; Mrs Paul Winkle, Moreno, Calif., and Goffrey Thompson, Tyler.”
