THE PARIS NEWS, Sun., Aug. 27, 1995, p.18A. 'Allen D. Thompson, 73, of Rt. 2, Powderly, died Saturday, Aug. 26 1995, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris. Bright-Holland Funeral Home will conduct services at 3 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Byers, TX, with the Rev. Johnny Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery at Byers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Byers, a son of John Allen and Radia Moreland Parker Thompson. He married Carnell Simmons July 3, 1942 in Fort Worth. He was a cattle buyer and a member of the Powderly Baptist Church. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Blue Lodge and the Shriners. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mavis Thompson Duncan of Powderly; a grandson, Dustin Cade Duncan; and a sister, Kathleen George of Fort Worth.'
