THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Feb. 11, 1994, p. 14A: "William Edward Thomas, 75, 1737-10th NE, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1994, in the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Bonham. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. R.L. Gray officiating. Maxey Funeral Home will make burial in Restlawn Garden Cemetery. Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Blossom, a son of Island and Ella Patton Thomas. He attended Blossom and Detroit schools and was retired from the Paris Independent School District. He had served in the Army and was a member of the Truevine Christian Church where he served as chairman of the deacon board. He was a member of the NAACP. Surviving are his wife, Beulah; one son, William Thomas Jr. of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Kay Woods of Amarillo and Deborah Roberson of Waco; a brother, Paul Thomas of Paris and seven grandchildren."
