THE PARIS NEWS Fri., May 31, 1991: "V. O. Thomas, 61, 910 W. Cherry, died Wed., at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services Sat., at 3:30 p.m. at the Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Jones. Burial by Maxey Funeral Home. Born in Lamar County, son of Island & Ella Tatton Thomas, graduate of Gibbons High School & Paris Junior College in 1980. He was a boiler room technician at McCuiston Regional Hospital, a veteran of the US Army, where he served for 23 years, & a trustee at the Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Celestine Thomas of the home; 3 sons, Willie Earl Thomas & Nathaniel Thomas of Paris & David Thomas of Dallas; a daughter, Deborah Hicks of Paris; 2 brothers, William & Paul Thomas of Paris; & 7 grandchildren."

Tombstone is inscribed, "US Army - Korea." Buried next to Island Thomas, Paul Thomas, Ellar Thomas & Thedus Helen Turner.
