THE PARIS NEWS, January 30, 1984: "Richard Lewis Thomas, 2226 Marfa St., Dallas, died Thursday, Jan. 26, at Parkland Hospital.  Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at the Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. A. M. Seamon officiating.  Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery by Maxey Funeral Home.  Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Atlas, a son of John and Anna Morgan Thomas.  He attended Lamar County schools and was a Baptist.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army.  Surviving are two sons, Richard Glenn Thomas of Dallas and Thomas Smith of Paris; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Ruth Ellis of Paris; two brothers, A. B. Thomas of Vernon and Willie J. Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz.; six sisters, Mrs. Bessie Rucker of Guthrie, Oklah., Mrs. Maude Wallace of Dallas, Mrs. Johnnie Mae West, Mrs. Mamie Council, Mrs. Dorothy Woods and Mrs. Catherine Alexander, all of Paris; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews."

 Tombstone is inscribed, "US Army WW II."
