LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 2/1/1973: "Services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Roxton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bryon Holt and the Rev. David Griffin officiating. Leverett and Steele Funeral Directors were in charge of burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Minnie Brown Thomas was born in the Gose Community on January 28, 1884, daughter of William and Sarah Louise Baker Brown. She and Mr. Thomas were married in Cooper in 1902, hie death occurring in 1949. She was a member of the Roxton Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons, Herbert Thomas of Roxton, Willie Thomas of Wichita Falls; J. D. Thomas of Petty; Robert Thomas of Nashville, Tennessee; and Floyd Thomas of Ben Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Chuck) Dawson of Paris; Mrs. Nina Braddock of Roxton; and Mrs. Fay Faulkner of Modesto, California; a sister, Mrs. Stella Haney of North Hollywood, California; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren."
