THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, May 4, 1982, p. 2: "Mary Thomas of Atlas, died Sunday, May 2 at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home. Funeral services were set for Wednesday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at Maxey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Wallace, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery. Mrs. Thomas, also known as Aunt Mary, was born in Lamar County on Nov 16, 1885, the daughter of the late Henry and Adeline Brown Thomas. Survivors include four nephews, Hardy Thomas and Richard L. Thomas, both of Paris; A. V. Thomas of Odessa; and Willie J. Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight nieces, Mrs. Mamie Council and Mrs. Seretha Sims, both of Atlas; Mrs. Maude Wallace, Mrs. Johnnie Mae West, Mrs. Catherine Alexander, Ellie Mae Mitchell and Mrs. Dorothy Woods, all of Paris, and Mrs. Bessie Rucker, of Guthrie, Okla."
