THE PARIS NEWS, Sun., Jul. 28, 1996, p.3B. 'Cooper - James Talley of Cooper died Saturday, July 27, 1996 at St. Joseph's Hospital & Health Center in Paris. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel with James Edge of Sulphur Springs officiating. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Talley was born in Delta County, June 29, 1926. He was the son of Charles William Talley and Lenny (Williams) Talley. He had worked for the Texas Department of Transportation and was a farmer and rancher. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Velma Jean Backus Feb. 28, 1975. Survivors include the wife; three sons, Ronnie James Talley of Greenville, David Lynn Talley of Commerce and Robert Wesley Talley of Ohio: a step-son, James E. Spangler of Dallas; three stepdaughters, Dorothy Spangler and Cathy Spangler, both of Leonard and Jackie Sheffield of Greenville; a brother, L.C. Talley of Cooper; six sisters, Pauline Pagan of Duncanville, Mabel Wheat of Cooper, Jewel White of Greenville, Dorothy Poole of Lone Oak, Margaret Ellis of Cooksville and Wanda Robnett of Commerce; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Johnny Talley, preceded him in death.'
