THE PARIS NEWS, 18 Aug 1966: 'Mrs. Hugh W. [Willis] Tinnin, the former Miss Effie Yates, died Thursday at 3:40 a.m. at home, 409 Fitzhugh Ave., after three years illness. Funeral services, Friday at 10:30 a.m., will be held at Fry and Gibbs chapel, and interment made in Evergreen Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Glendell A. Jones and the Rev. James E. Jones, both of First Methodist Church. Mrs. Tinnin, daughter of J.J.R. Yates and the former Fannie Coleman, was born in High community, Lamar County, 4 Oct 1882. She had lived in Paris since childhood, and was a member of the Methodist Women's Society of Christian Service and formerly of the Eothen Club, a women's study group. At one time, she operated a doctor's call service, and during World War II, aided in social services for Camp Maxey soldiers and their families. She and Mr. Tinnin, both members of early-day county families, were married 28 Dec 1904, and her husband survives, besides two sons, Jack Tinnin, Dallas, and Sam Tinnin, St. Louis, Mo.; Also one sister, Miss Verlinda Yates, besides two nieces, Mrs. Gilbert Cecil and Mrs. Mary Frances Williams, all of Paris.' Information from Helen H. Luckett, 19 Apr 1998, 6317 Kenwick Ave., Ft. Worth, TX 76116: she is the daughter of Thomas Jefferson R. Yates and Frances Coleman Yates.
