LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, September, 1979: "George H. Barber, 72, of 852 NW 18th, died Friday, August 31,1979, in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 1, in the Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial was in Little Vine Cemetery. Mr. Barner was born May 28,1907. in Lamar County, the son of George and Dellar Bryant Barber. He married Flora Catherine McFatridge in 1932, and she preceded him in death in 1964. In January 1975, Mr. Barber married Pearl White, who survivors. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. E.D. Gayler of Roseburg, Oregon, and Mrs. Shirley Robinson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; three sons, Wayne Barber of Route 1 Sumner, Joe Barber of Plano and Vickie Lynn Barber of Paris; one step-son, Harold Dupree of Powderly; one sister, Mrs. Berta Mae Rodgers of Longview, one brother, Lee Barber of Fort Worth; one half-brother, Homer Pitcock of Tatum; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dan Lassiter, Wayne McQueen, Thomas Nixon, Marion Neisler, Henry Walker and Coy Pitcock."
