Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, 12 Aug 1957:. 'Ross Iliff, veteran Paris automobile dealer, died at home, 101 20th SE, Monday noon, after long illness. His wife, ill also, had returned home from a Paris hospital Sunday night. Gene Roden and Sons have charge of funeral arrangements, which were incomplete. Mr. Iliff, who came here nearly 40 years ago, was the first man to open two widely different types of business in Paris; the self service Piggly Wiggly grocery, and the city's first airplane agency. He soon quit the grocery business to enter the automobile field as agent for the Overland Motor Company, but for more than 30 years, was Buick representative here. He also had a Buick agency in Henderson, which he sold some time ago, later retiring from business after returning to Paris about two years ago. He was an aviation enthusiast, and until a dozen years ago, piloted his own plane. He was long active in the Masonic lodge and in the Lions Club. He was born in LeCompton, Kan., 7 Jun 1884, and was the mercantile business there for a time before coming to Paris. Surviving besides his wife are two sisters living in Topeka, Kan. His brother W. B. (Wint) Iliff, who had been associated with him in the automobile agency here, died some two years ago.' On the same stone with Doris March Iliff, Katherine O. Iliff and Winter B. Iliff.
