THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, Jun. 17, 1956, p. 13: “George Bennett, retired farmer living at 130-8th NE, died Saturday, at 9:45 a.m. at the Sanitarium of Paris, where he was a patient. Funeral services, Monday at l0:30 a.m., will be conducted at Fry-Gibbs chapel by Dr. James Riley of First Baptist Church. Interment will be made in Long Cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born in Hopkins County, March 21, 1881; son of the late W. G. and Bessie (Beshairs) Bennett. Survivors include these children: Mrs. L. O. Rucker, Mrs. Fred Bell, G. W. Bennett and Russell Bennett, all of Paris; Mrs. Bill Wake, Mrs. Bill Willmuth, Bill Bennett and Shelby Bennett, all of Houston; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Mrs. Henry Johnson, Hugo, Okla., and Mrs. Julie Jones, Pattonville.”
His WWII registration and some other records show he was born in Pattonville, Lamar, Texas.
