THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, August 19, 1979, p. 4: “Mrs. Ella Baum, 80, 2408 Bonham St., died at 7:25 p.m. Friday at Parkview Convalescent Home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. L. (Bill) McQueen of Tulsa, Okla. and the Rev. Hershell Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Tigertown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Baum was born Feb. 26, 1889, in Tigertown, a daughter of R. T. and Amanda (Melton) Sikes. She and her first husband, J. T. Carter moved to Idabel, Okla. in 1926. After his death in 1927, she owned and operated the Carter Hotel there from 1926 until 1963 when she returned to Paris. She married R. C. Baum in 1956. He died March 17,1960. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Wendall Tallant of Paris and five nephews, Bill Sikes, and Mike Cullum of Paris, Wayne McQueen of Maxey, Dale McQueen of Dallas and the Rev. J. L. McQueen of Tulsa, Okla.”
