THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 1 Oct 1987. 'John Ray Butler, 2104 Culbertson, died Sunday, 27 Sep 1987, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services were held Tuesday, 29 Sep, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Gene Roden's Sons made burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Butler was born 4 Aug 1906, in Lamar County, a son of Emerson E. and Nancy Ellen Steed Butler. He married Daisy [B.] Short on 12 Dec 1923. He was a carpenter for McFadden and Miller Construction Co. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Lucille Phillips of Paris and Maxine Lee of Duncanville; two sons, Virgil Butler of Plano and Bill Butler of Moreno Valley, Calif.; four sisters, Iva Lamb and Avis Anderson, both of Paris, Josie Chandler of Mesquite and Imogene Moore of Carrollton; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, U. Ray Butler, in January, 1985.'
